Hello!

How is everyone doing today?  Me, good!  Just hanging here in the docs office waiting away!  It’s been a long a$$ day already.  I got up early this morning so that I could get my jog in, my workout in, and breakfast made before the people working on my condo came, they were supposed to  be there at 8.  ( I am glad I got up early, G and I beat the rain.  We got a good walk/jog in before the rain started. )

Speaking of!  I am trying to get my distance back up to four miles a day or more.  That is what I always used to do, and some where along the way, I got really really lazy.  This was my time and distance yesterday,IMG_2712.jpg  This was my time and distant todayIMG_2757Just a hare better on the distance, and a bit better on the time!  😍  I also need to get my shit together when lifting.  I used to at least make a good honest attempt at this, and it seems recently the last six months, I have gotten quite lack a dasiac,  I just kind of go through the motions.  What is wrong with me.  On a good and happy note, the dr has says to yes, start jogging and running again.  He has challenged me to do a half marathon!🏃Not sure I am there yet!

Ok, I do feel better since I have started the steroid pack.  I don’t like to take these, normally because, first and foremost, they make me bloat up like a balloon, but, I have to admit, I apparently was going through a flare because I am feeling 70% better.  I guess we will see what he has to say today.

Do you guys drink tea?  I go through stages where I will drink a lot of tea, two or three cups a day, and then I will go through long periods where I do not drink any at all.  I was talking with a friend of mine from Minneapolis, who is even more anal them myself when it comes to eating and being healthy.  She has a grand daughter who has luekemia and they have completely revamped their way of eating.  She told me she has a cup of turmeric/ginger  tea every night.  She said it is relaxing and cleansing, and helps with inflammation.  She is sending me several bags of the kind she drinks.  I am kind of anxious to get this and see how it is.  She also said she adds just a bit of honey.  She was telling me she uses a honey called Bare Honey, it is supposed to be very good and healthier.  If you use honey what type, kind do you have?  I will let you know how this tea tastes, and my “professional” opinon when I get this.

On to Fat Bombs.  Ok, I know it probably sounds funny, and maybe my mind set is just getting in the right place, but I SERIOUSLY think these do help to curb your sugar cravings and I also think they suppress your appetite.  I have been having one a day, mid afternoon, when that afternoon slump and urge to have sugar really hit.  I am looking for other recipes to try.  I am sure there are many out there.

Let’s talk about Podcasts.  As you all know, I LOVE to listen to Podcast.  Thanks to MD, who got me hooked.  My  favorite is Paloemg, and I also listen to Mind Pump, sometimes, GGW all the time, and I have recently started listening to Meathead Hippie.  170x170bbYou have to like to learn about natural supplements, food for health, teas for health, and basically, just overall, taking really really good care of yourself.  I have only listened to maybe about 6 episodes, but two I have gone back and listened to twice because I really felt like I learned a lot from these.  I am going to start in the beginning and try to listen to as many as I can.  There are several that deal wth POCS ( I think that is the acronym) and things like trying to become pregnant, well obviously, I don’t need to listen to those!  But if you need some new podcasts, or insight on your health, take a listen.

Netflix and Hulu.  Do any of you have Hulu, and if yes, do you like this?  I am thinking of dropping all of our tv service, other then just basic channels, and signing up for Hulu.  We do have Netflix, but I am wondering if there are different shows on Hulu?  If you have comments or ideas, please let me know.

Man, I am really ready for sunshine, dry weather, blue skies, warm weather.  I know that I joke about being solar powered, but I TRUELY am.  I do supplement with Vitamin D, and take extra if we have had several days of no sun, but there is no substitute for the real thing.

For several months now, really, since after the new year, I have been paying serious attention to my overall health, how I feel when I eat certain foods, when I take in more sugar, salt, fat, higher protein, low carb.  I think I am seeing pattern.  I KNOW that I have low sodium, I have for some time, but I can’t seem to get my levels up there.  I have just recently started putting salt in my first bottle of water in the morning.  I add a good amount of iodized sea salt, and I do notice a difference in my energy levels.  I will continue to do this, for some time.  I also know that I have low iron.  I have taken an iron supplement for some time, but I feel you are better off eating red meat, which is not a problem for me, since I like to eat meat, I guess I just need to eat more red meat.  I also notice and can definitely tell if my iron is low.  I  know that if I eat too much sugar, which I have been doing a lot of lately,  my inflammation is much worse.  Seriously, quit on the sugar already.  I also know if I eat gluten, I will have more inflammation, which, I think, between the increase in sugar and the gluten I ate over the weekend, caused my flare.  (BTW, so does my dr.)

So, to summarize quickly, I am increasing my salt consumption, my iron via more red meat, LESS sugar and I really have to watch the gluten.  I also need to take care of my weight.  I am committing to do this all for two months, (that is the time frame the Dr. wants me to quit three of the RA drugs and see how things work), so I feel that I I do all of these simultaneously, I should see some difference.  I am going to keep a log to keep track.
